In an exciting first-of-its-kind partnership for the brand, Art Herstory has collaborated with The Bennett Collection and the Muskegon Museum of Art (MMA) on a limited-edition set of custom note cards! Steven Bennett and Elaine Schmidt of The Bennett Collection, together with staffers at the MMA and its store, designed this exclusive Art Herstory 6-pack sampler.

Artworks from Transcending Tradition
The cards reproduce six of the paintings on display in an important exhibition that has just opened at the MMA. Transcending Tradition: Selection of Works from The Bennett Collection of Women Realists runs in Muskegon until May 11, 2025.
Transcending Tradition features artworks from The Bennett Collection, a growing collection of figurative realist paintings by women artists. The Bennett Collection’s founders are San Antonio art collectors Steven Alan Bennett and Dr. Elaine Melotti Schmidt. They gifted 150 paintings to the Muskegon Museum of Art, bolstering its focus on collecting work by women artists, both historical and contemporary. Therefore, this exhibition highlights work by historical women painters—including (but not limited to) Artemisia Gentileschi, Mary Cassatt, Gertrude Abercrombie, Dörte Clara Wolff, and Elaine de Kooning—integrated with the work of contemporary artists such as (to name just a few) Andrea Kowch, Zoey Frank, Harmonia Rosales, Xenia Hausner and Katie O’Hagan.

The nitty-gritty details
The 6-packs are available only from the gift shop at Muskegon Museum of Art. Each set contains six cards featuring these artists and works:
- Self-Portrait as Clio, c. 1640, by Artemisia Gentileschi
- Woman and Owl in the Shattered Tree, 1954, by Gertrude Abercrombie
- Alles Walzer / Let’s Dance, 1997, by Xenia Hausner
- Parade, 2015, by Zoey Frank
- The Courtiers, 2016, by Andrea Kowch
- The Creation of God, 2017, by Harmonia Rosales
The front cover of each card reproduces a portion of the painting. The inside is blank, for handwritten notes. Each card back presents a thumbnail of the work in its entirety, and lists the artist’s name and date(s); the title of the painting; its date of creation; and its dimensions.
Each box also includes six antique gold envelopes, and six Art Herstory seals. Visit this page of the Muskegon Museum of Art Store’s online store for full product information, and to purchase your set!
